Christmas Was Great

Well, I Christmas went great! Pookiesdad fixed rib roast, Yorkshire Pudding, and onions for Christmas Eve dinner with my family. It was GREAT and everyone loved it!!! We went to Christmas Eve service at my grandparents' church that night. Pookie did pretty good. Although, she did yell out Yeah! Woohoo! When we stood up to go to communion. Fortunately, everyone thought it was cute. Their preacher thinks Pookie is adorable and took a picture of her playing at the pulpit after church was over. The preacher gave gifts to the kids. She got a stuffed turtle, some Muppet Babies activity books and markers, and a giant pencil. She got to open several presents on Christmas Eve from family who wouldn't be with us on Christmas Day and some family friends. She had kind of a fitful sleep on Christmas Eve. I think she was already beginning to get overwhelmed with everything going on.

Christmas Day she woke up and was ready to open gifts. She opened a few, but then just wanted to play. I ended up opening most of her gifts for her. We had a really nice breakfast with my family and then packed up and headed out for Christmas lunch with Pookiesdad's Mom's side of the family. We got there before Pookiesdad's sister and her family. Pookie kept asking to go home, but then her cousins got there and she was happy! She played with them the whole time. We had a great lunch and then took our two nieces home with us. Pookiesdad's sister and her husband joined us back at the house later for more gift opening and dinner. Not that any of us really needed the dinner. :) After dinner, they left and headed back home to Georgia. We put Pookie to bed early because she had only had about 45-60 minutes worth of a nap that day.

Monday we were off work, so we went to Toys R Us and Sams. We used some of the Christmas money that Pookie got to buy her a grocery cart, cash register, and play microwave. She really likes them! We spent the afternoon hanging around the house trying to unpack. Then we went over to Pookiesdad's Dad's house that night to visit with Pookiesdad's brother and his kids who were in town. Hopefully, they will be able to come over to our house tomorrow night for supper so we can visit some more. We haven't seen them since our wedding in March of 1999. Pookie did some more gift opening there.

Today I am back at work. But, I only have to work today and tomorrow and then I am off Thursday, Friday, and Monday. I can't wait!! I am ready for some more time off! Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and has a Happy New Year!!!

Almost There

Only a day and a half left until Christmas Vacation finally starts! Tomorrow we will take Pookie's teachers' gifts to daycare. Tomorrow is also the office Christmas lunch and Thursday I leave at noon. I can't wait until Thursday. Pookiesdad and I are going to leave work at noon, leave Pookie at daycare, eat a nice lunch out, and then go shopping. I think it will be a nice day. Friday we are going to head out to my Mom's early. I have cookies to bake and presents to wrap once I get there, so we need to get there early. The cookies are for Christmas lunch with Pookiesdad's family. Christmas Eve Pookiesdad will be using Mom's kitchen to make Roast for supper, so I have to get my cookie baking done on Friday. Christmas Eve we will go to my grandparents' church for Christmas Eve service. We will do Christmas morning with my family and then have Christmas lunch with Pookiesdad's family. His sister and her family plan on being there this year. I can't wait to see them again! Then we will either do Christmas night at Pookiesdad's Dad's house or our house. We haven't decided for sure yet. Lots to do and not much time to do it in! Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!!!

Christmas Times A Comin'

Ok, so it's a cheesy title! It's a Christmas song Sammy Kershaw sings. Anyway...Christmas Time is a Comin'. I can't believe that it is almost here! Crazy! We are doing the normal Christmas Time thing. We will spend Christmas Eve and Christmas morning with my family and the rest of Christmas Day with Pookiesdad's family. Not sure about New Year's this year. Some of Pookiesdad's sibling will be coming through around Christmas and I guess it depends on how long they stay as to what we do for New Years. In the meantime, we have plenty of holiday stuff going on at work to keep us busy. We are having a departmental lunch, cookie swap, free turkey pick up, and Secret Santa stuff. It's been a lot of fun so far. My Secret Santa is cool! I have gotten three ornaments and a pair of Christmas socks so far!! I have given my Secret Santa a Christmas Countdown calendar, Santa soap, Santa candy dish, and Penguin Santa hand towels. I heard her say she really likes her Secret Santa stuff, so I think she is happy. :) Pookie got a letter in the mail from Santa yesterday. Sometimes when you ask her if she is going to sit in Santa's lap she says yes and sometimes she says no. We may give it a try this week or next.

Pookie's birthday went great! She had a blast and got a LOT of really nice things! She had so much fun playing with her cousins! Two of them are teenagers and the other is her age. I got a great pic of her hugging the one that is her age. They are too cute together! Our next door neighbor's daugher who is 1 1/2 years older than her was there too.

We had a nice Thanksgiving. Pookiesdad and I even got a chance to go to Huntsville to do some more Christmas shopping. I think we are pretty much finished now. I even picked up a couple of things for Pookie for Valentine's Day. Yikes! I finished our Christmas cards last night. I almost ran out of cards. They have a wallet pic of Pookie in them. Mimi is coming over Saturday. She and I will go finish her Christmas shopping while Pookie naps that afternoon. Hope everyone has a great December and enjoys the holidays! Merry early Christmas!!
